Now I'm probably overreacting..but I honestly see Texas Tech Athletics taking a turn for the better right now. I'll start with baseball: we've got one hell of a baseball coach but also players to build off of after all of these seniors leave. I think the players you build off of in baseball is definitely the 1-2 punch of Davis Martin and Steven Gingery. But I also love the upside of Orlando Garcia, Michael Davis is solid at second, and the obviously Tanner Gardner. And with the way Tadlock can recruit and get the best out of his players, we could be an Omaha regular. Now you can be bitter all you want about Tubby leaving, but he did an unreal job with our basketball program. He brought in stability and players to build on like Justin Gray, Keenan Evans, Zach Smith, Aaron Ross, and Odiase (sort of). Now we are adding talented transfer with a new coach who wins where ever he goes, and I think has the potential to take the b-ball program to the next level. Now we come to football, which I think is the sport that takes the longest to implement your scheme, culture, and get the players you want. I think Kliff has done that, or at least I hope. All of these players are his now. This is his team, and this is also a young team that can build off of their core players. You have a top 10 QB in Pat Mahomes, multiple weapons at RB with all different and dynamic skill sets with the speed of Stockton, Felton's as a balanced back like DeAndre was, and the physicality of a Corey Dauphine. At WR, you have guys that can all do a great job assuming Willies lives up to the hype. You can run out of guys at WR when your Tech. When you don't have Willies, you have an inconsistent but talented Tony Brown, you don't have Sadler, you have Giles, you don't have Lauderdale working out as a inside receiver, you've got Coutee or Bowman. And if Davis continues to struggle on the outside, you've got a great set of hands and jump ball specialist Dylan Cantrell. I think our o-line is young but with a ton of upside and size with Madison A. and Steele coming in, and also a healthy Justin Murphy. I think the big, nasty offensive line of the Leach days are coming back fellas. Obviously, our defense is a major concern. But I guess we have to trust the process with David Gibbs. I love his strategy of recruiting big and lanky DBs, because I'm tired of our 5'9" corners getting shoved around and bullied by these receivers in the Big 12. Just thought I would get a little venting done. I would love to hear yall's thoughts! Thanks!
