It is hard to overstate how big of a game changer this last weekend was with KU, WVU, and OU all losing while we won on the road.
With only 6 games left this next week has some huge matchups that could really give us the edge we need to close on the title.
So lets look at the next three games of the viable contenders: TTU (9-3) KU (8-4) , and WVU (7-5).
KU
@ISU- This may be the toughest road game in the conference this year. They just beat OU and are trying to make a push to get into the tournament and will be up to play a KU team they almost beat on the road. back to back road games for KU.
WVU-If KU loses to ISU I may root for them in this game as we have to go WVU. Either way whoever loses this game takes a big fall out of the race, especially if its WVU.
OU- They are in free fall and will probably lose this game but they are capable of beating KU.
Plus after these 3 tough games they have to come to Lubbock.
WVU
TCU
@KU
@BU
I'm still shocked they lost to OSU. Just like the KU game they had it in the bag and choked at the end. That really gives us some breathing room against them if we can win a few more games so the tilt in Morgantown won't matter as much.
TTU
OU-They are in freefall and lost the last 3. This is their second game in a row on the road which is tough and we will be juiced to play them. Hard fought loss at ISU. They are still dangerous but we should be able to beat them at home given how both teams are playing.
@BU- BU is still not that good but they are playing better. Its a toss up game on the road and between OSU and BU I think we probably split and that will be ok.
@OSU
Then comes the contest with Kansas. Lets says TTU and KU both go 2-1 which will be tougher for KU imo, That puts us at 11-4 vs 10-5. If we win its 12-4 vs 10-6 with two games left including TCU at home. It really all comes down to this game unless they slip up, they have the easier two games after playing us. In the past when KU is challenged, this is the game they will pull out to win the conference.
If we just win all our homes games we are probably good, but add one more road game and it about locks it up.
This week offers a chance for more separation given the KU-ISU matchup while we have OU at home.
