seems to be the inability to throw guys open. Most great quarterbacks have that chemistry with their receivers where they can throw the ball right before a receiver is open especially on skinny posts, slants, and corner routes. Mahomes was able to do that on the Reggie Davis touchdown pass but not much of that at any other point in the game. Mahomes seems to be able to complete passes when receivers are wide open mainly after he extends the play and players are able to get a way from defenders. Graham Harrell used to work tremendously in the offseason with Crabtree in developing that timing. Timing and chemistry is even more critical in the red zone. Larger receivers with the development of quick timing routes should be the answer going forward so I'm optimistic to see that we have some bigger receivers in the pipeline. Our current receivers never look open, but successfully throwing to an area before they are open has always been the staple of great quarterbacking in the Big 12. I think an offseason with Mahomes and these young receivers will help our passing game tremendously, despite losing key pieces of our offensive line next year.
