For all this supposed cerebral head coach, for all this talk about how "smart" Kliff is, he has absolutely no feel for situations or game management. Hell, Class 2A head coaches are better than this.
He doesn't know when to step on the gas with 42 seconds left in regulation against K-State, or go for it near the TCU goal line trailing by 7 in the third quarter, or burn the clock and go into halftime.
You get the ball inside your own 10 and Texas has two timeouts with 1:30 left. Your goal is to burn as much time off the clock as you can and go and regroup at halftime, particularly with a struggling QB and particularly with getting the ball to start the 2nd half.
Yet, you throw some high-risk goofy-ass lateral/pass that almost blows up in your face, and then you get out of the jam, but still only to the 30 with under a minute left. YOU GET THE BALL TO START THE 2ND HALF. Just run the rest of the freakin' clock. But no. Pick on a pass designated to get about 7 yards anyway.
Only a defense playing its absolute ass off kept that to a FG (and it should have been no points, if not for a chickenshit Big 12 officials), but that's beside the point. The guy just doesn't understand, and apparently isn't getting any help inside his headset.
