Kliff's regime isn't as forthcoming with information as you can see with the day to day crap but they also steer information to RRS and the Denley situation sticks out to me. It makes no sense to me that we freaking sign JF Thomas who didn't even qualify at a damn JC but then we aren't letting a kid sign an NLI because we think he won't qualify. Really?
If you want to not take a kid because he can't play and your evaluation was off based on his senior season, that's fine but why do this academic stuff? Signing him to an NLI doesn't hurt us if he doesn't qualify. We are just saying hey we don't really think you can help us on the field and you are borderline on grades so we won't even let you sign. Deshay, Armstrong, and now Denley appear to be the victims of this. Again, I'm fine with it, but lets call it what it is. If the guy can play we will be waiting till July with the staff saying he still has work to do, then he never makes it in. Tech can always get WR and is also stacked at RB so there it is.
sidenote: Also appreciate Dicken's honesty on the air about cheating. You can just tell Ole Miss, Tenn, BU, are doing it and there isn't a commensurate penalty offset it. So while it is morally reprehensible, from a risk/return standpoint it is a no brainer. I just don't think Tech has the boosters with the money or motivation to cheat like other schools and so you get a class in the 40s.
