3 years ago if David Gibbs were asked about his defense he would say "we are not very good". In private he would convey that in harder more descriptive terms. The same for the next year.
Last year he would say things like "we are getting there. We still have a ways to go but we will better".
Gibbs has been honest...sometimes brutally so, about his defense.
The language he is using about this years defense is quite encouraging. The whole " things have changed" and " not soft anymore" stuff is heady stuff . Especially when you factor in that Gibbs is just not one who tries toblow smoke.
