Forgive me for starting a new thread, but as a former player I think that Tech's win on the Big Island, Hawaii may just be the most impressive win for a long, long time.

Just look at the field. The no. 4, 6, 7, 10 and 12 teams in the nation were there....we were ranked no.18.

All of the good west coast teams were there. UT and OSU and TCU were there. This was a seriously good, national field.

We beat USC (no.7) by 8. Oregon was third, 18 shots behind us. OSU and UT were tied for 7th, 31 shots behind us.

31 shots!!!!!

We started the last round one shot behind an excellent USC team....and won by 8! Talk about closing.

Fredrik Nilehn our JC transfer, finished birdie, eagle and then birdied the first playoff hole to win medalist. Oh and this was his second victory in six starts as a Red Raider.

Make no mistake. This was an incredible effort against a big time field. Coach Sands is to be respected for assembling a nationally competitive team. Hopefully this is a significant foundation block for a successful spring.

I am pumped....clearly!
