I keep reading and hearing this idea in college basketball media & discussion that other than Beard and a couple of Bob Knight seasons, Texas Tech men’s basketball has been trash. I wondered, is that true, or just more ignorant BS people spout about Tech? Obvi I know the ‘96 team, but other than that?
My findings:
Olds, why didn’t you tell us dumb millennials that we, TTU, won 7 SWC championships and 5 SWC tournaments? (24% of all SWC tournaments ever played). Some damn competitive basketball history back there. Probably the 3rd most competitive SWC program, and only a hair behind UT for 2nd. (Arky being 1st)
In fact, since the end of WWII, Bob Knight and Beard are the only coaches to not win MULTIPLE conference championships. Bob Knight’s was probably the worst TTU coaching tenure between WWII and 2008.
