to go 6-6 and finish 7th. They are the first publication which agrees with me that Ok State will struggle. Pick us to beat them, Lamar, Ole Miss, KU, ISU, and KSU. While Ole Miss is a toss up, I just don't see us losing at home to UH who brings back 5 starters on defense and 6 on offense. I see ISU as a much harder game than BU too. They pick OU obviously, followed by WV and TCU. OSU is 8th.
I didn't realize UT had so many starters returning (9 on both off and def). Herman put in his system last year and played more young guys in his honeymoon season. I expect them to be tough with a crucial early game vs TCU to factor heavily in the Big 12 race. Both have tough games the week before (USC at Austin and Ohio State vs toads in Jerryworld) . Either team could have some major injuries after those games.
They, like everyone else, point to our situation at qb and receiver as the reason for our troubles. If there is one area that I feel Tech can reload without a droppoff, its qb. KK has proven his qb will exceed expectations. If he can get a very immobile Shim to perform as well as he did behind the youngest OL in the Big 12, he'll work wonders with Carter, Duffy, and Bowman behind what could be our best OL in years. In fact, they picked 3 of our OL as All Big 12 (Anderson 1st team, Bruffy and Akamnonu 2nd teamers). Looking at history, I'm not too concerned about WR either. They seemed high on Ward returning at RB.
They're also jumping on the bandwagon for Gibbs and the defense. Just looking at the experience and depth Gibbs will put on the field makes me smile. Maybe it won't be as good as most think. But for now I'm drinking the kool aid.
