Granted it was ACU we were playing but was delighted to see the solid pitching performance by Ty Damron. He threw 63 strikes out of 81 total pitches (78% strikes) which was refreshing to see. Still trying to figure out what's up with Dusek but if he falters it would seem logical to put Damron back in the weekend rotation. I think we were all shocked to see Hunter Hargrove start at catcher but if he can get it figured out, watch out! I would be interested to hear from someone who was at the game as to how he looked and especially what his arm is like. Tyler Floyd has really faltered this year in throwing runners out on steal attempts. Good to see Custred, Patterson and Mushinski get into the game. The amazing stat on both Patterson and Mushinski is that they both threw strikes almost entirely strikes when in the game. (Patterson 10 of 11 and Mushinski 6 of 7). They both have struggled mightily with control this year so that stat is encouraging. The not so good was that the fielding behind Damron was spotty with 3 errors leading to two unearned runs. Also, Michael Davis continues to struggle at the plate and is now at a .226 season batting average and has a low OBA of .270. Tadlock has given him a shot at the full time 2nd base job but he needs to do a lot more to justify keeping it.
