The Tech sprinters and field event people will go to the big Tyson Invitational in F'ville this weekend - beginning tomorrow. That is a huge meet for sprinters and field events - huge fields and a great track for sprinting. In fact, the meet has become so big for sprinters that the distance runners are beginning to avoid the meet - the fields are very small for everything above the 800. So, the Tech distance runners are headed to the Music City Challenge at Vanderbilt.
Here is how is shakes out:
Music City - in the 5K, Tech has Jasmine Torres, Hattie Schunk and Jocelyn Caro for the women and Miguel Bautista and Evans Tuitoek for the men. In the men's mile, Nick Rivera (running the fast heat) and Todd Mickey. In the women's 800, Kelly McQuaid. And, in the men's 3K, Miguel Bautista and Benard Keter (running in the fastest section. I am particularly interested in seeing what Jocelyn does in the 5K and Benard does in the 3K.
In the Tyson, the fields are huge and the goal is to qualify for the "invitational" division in a race. On Friday, this is what the Tech entries look like:
