It seems to be an ongoing mystery as to who are the 85 scholarship players on Techs's football team. Tech goes to great lengths to share with us each year who the newly signed scholarship players are but I have never in 30+ years seen a complete listing of all the scholarship players. It's always been shrouded in a bit of mystery. The recent additions of Talor Nunez, Zach Austin and Tyler Scalzi to scholarship caused me to do a quick unofficial count to see where we stand relative to the 85 player scholarship limit. Along with the addition of Kolin Hill my numbers say we are at 82 players which is an indication of how far under 85 we have been. I am counting the following former walk-ons as now being on scholarship: Zach Austin, David Brenner, Bobby Esiaba, Talor Nunez, Brad Pearson, Tyler Scalzi, Taylor Symmank, and John White. Interesting scholarship fact is that we have 16 scholarship players at the wide receiver position, two of which are seniors (Jakeem Grant and Brad Pearson) and we have 4 wide receiver commitments for next year. By comparison we have 15 scholarship offensive lineman of which 5 are seniors (Clark, Morales,Morales, Okafor and Kaster) and 4 offensive line commitments for next year. Would appear we are overweighted on receivers and underweighted on offensive linemen.
