FORT WORTH -- TCU basketball guard Jaylen Fisher could miss another extended period of playing time for the Horned Frogs (12-3, 1-2 Big 12) as conference play ramps up.

TCU head coach Jamie Dixon said Monday that he doesn't expect Fisher to play for the "foreseeable future" due to continued swelling in the junior's right knee, stemming from a meniscus injury Fisher sustained last January. Fisher missed the remainder of the 2017-18 campaign from that point on and did not return to action until the Horned Frogs' fourth game this season -- a 73-64 loss to Lipscomb on Nov. 20.

"We drained [his knee] again and there's still swelling," Dixon said. "That's just where we're at and and I can't give you any more than that.

"He's obviously devastated and frustrated. That's the situation. It's a meniscus surgery [recovery] that just hasn't gone as most go."

Fisher has been absent for TCU since the start of Big 12 play on Jan. 5 vs. Baylor. He has averaged 12.1 points in nine games this season, including 15-point performances vs. SMU and USC in early December.

Fisher, a former 4-star recruit from Memphis, Tenn., has been plagued by injuries for the majority of his playing career at TCU. He suffered a broken wrist at the tail end of his freshman season before suffering a separate meniscus tear in his left knee that summer. Fisher sustained the same injury in his right knee less than six months later -- an injury that has since required two surgeries.

The injury bug for TCU -- who dropped out of the AP Top 25 poll on Monday fresh off back-to-back losses at Kansas and Oklahoma -- has extended far beyond Fisher this season. Redshirt freshman Lat Mayen has also been limited due to a knee injury, though Dixon said Monday that the 6-9 forward forward finally felt "100 percent" heading into this week.

JUCO transfer Yuat Alok and redshirt freshman Angus McWilliam -- both have entered their names within the NCAA transfer portal this season -- have also been ruled out with season-ending injuries. Alok sustained a broken wrist in December while McWilliam has battled concussion symptoms. Dixon said he expects Alok to transfer, while McWilliam has been working out and hopes to "get back" despite entering the portal last month.

"I'm not one to point to those [injuries] because you usually get through them and they happen," Dixon said. "Obviously we've had an unprecedented number of injuries and they're severe."
