I wanted to post a separate update on longtime Texas Tech target Steven Parker.
I spoke with the coaches at SOC earlier this morning and received the following information...
-the Tech coaches are coming back sometime this next week to visit Parker at SOC, potentially another in-home visit but that would most likely occur in a few weeks with Coach Wells.
-Tech remains the "top" option (fwiw) per the coaching source at SOC
-when I spoke with Parker about the visit to Texas Tech, he had great things to say but didn't necessarily share a ton of detail...he doesn't like interviews and provided brief answers, but talking with his coaches today I received this tidbit.
"Steven was really at ease with the new coaches at Tech, they made him and his family feel very comfortable about things moving forward. They actually went to his grandmother's house and spent time with the family. Then, they took the family for a tour of the stadium and showed them where they would pickup their tickets, where they would sit for every game.
"I know that was huge for Steven and his family, because if you look around at some of these other schools, it wouldn't be that easy for them to see that many games without a lot of travel."
-Parker is taking an official visit to Nebraska this weekend. It is not necessarily a new relationship, but it has been revisited over the past month and the Huskers generally do a really good job of hosting prospects...so this is worth following.
-Parker is scheduled to officially visit Kansas on Feb. 1-3rd and the key there is obviously his relationship with Coach Emmett Jones
-when asked about Kansas specifically and the rush of "crystal ball" predictions, the coaching source at SOC believes that is just a reflection of his relationsihp with Coach Jones...not real information or a sound prediction. the coaches mentioned that Kansas would have to do "a lot" to convince Parker that Lawrence is the right fit long term.
-at the moment, the SOC coaches ranked the schools like this...
TECH
TCU
KU
NEB
*fwiw, right?
-the coaches mentioned that both Colorado and Oregon have reached out recently, then also made sure to point out they expect things to get even crazier with attention for Parker after the dead period ends.
-they were not certain whether or not Parker has talked with new defensive line coach Paul Randolph at this point.
-the coaches from SOC also mentioned the Tech coaches have expressed interest two other SOC 2019 prospects recently, DE Davion Wheeler and ATH Sean Simms.
