Going in you have to think about Houston's offensive catalyst – D'Eriq King. Contain him early and force the Cougars to try to run the ball. I see the Cougars holding this one close but with the way the Red Raider offensive line held Ed Oliver, I think they can squeak by a close one at home with the crowd behind them. I'm taking the Red Raiders in a close one.

The Cougars offense has averaged 45 points per game so far this season and this will be their first true road test. It is difficult to say what we really know about this Texas Tech defense, and I expect them to play better at home, but ultimately the Houston offense scores more than the Tech offense.
This is a close game to call, a few forced turnovers by the Tech defense could easily swing this in the Red Raiders' direction, but the Tech offense has not shown they can consistently score against quality opponents.
With that being said, Saturday will tell everyone a lot about this Texas Tech team moving forward.

This is going to be a close game but still high scoring as both offenses operate with a fast tempo and with Alan now having a couple of games under his belt he’s got more of an understanding and more of a scheme built around him. I’m confident in Tech’s abilities to win this game even though I think it’ll much more of a challenge than Lamar, obviously. Bowman will pass over 250 yards but I think both teams’ run games will be less of an impact as the close score will cause both teams to pass more. Ja’Deion High will post the highest yardage for the team at around 70 receiving yards or more. The Tech defense will cause at least one turnover and I’m confident Tony Jones will get two sacks in the game. A fast tempo offense works both ways and can cause problems for Houston if they aren’t completely set for Tech’s linebackers, especially Tony. It’ll be close until the end and the first truly exciting game of the season for Tech.

This is arguably a must-win game for Tech if they want to win 6 to 7 games this season. Ed Oliver is one of the best in the country, but the offensive line contained him for the most part last year. Another year under their belts and I expect a similar result. Whether Tech comes out on top may very well depend on Alan Bowman. He will have to make some big throws in this one. If the offense picks up where they left off against Lamar and the defense shows out, the Red Raiders should win and be 2-1.

I think Houston’s offense scores early and often, and with Tech behind they abandon the run and Bowman is forced into some mistakes. I expect a similar performance as the Ole Miss game.

My gut is telling me Houston’s defense will be too much for freshman Alan Bowman to handle. However, I think Tech will be prepared for this one and it will be a game that comes down to the wire. This game could go either way and I think the outcome will not be decided by more than 10 points. Both teams are pretty evenly matched and I think the game hinges on what offense is able to make more plays. Tech wins a close one.
How do y'all think this one plays out?
