One thing I’m excited about with this hire is the idea of having a “stable” and drama free program for a while. We have been in and out of the news for the last decade for the wrong reasons:
Leach: Job hunting, Craig and Adam James shed-gate, drunk rumors, etc.
Tuberville: Came with old baggage, couldn’t keep a DC, slapped dude in the face on the sideline, arguing with Neal Brown, skipped out at the 50 yd line
Kliff: swag, coach bro, wallerstadt debacle, making inexperienced hires of friends, pressure of being a Tech legend, ties to Leach
Wells is a completely fresh start. A hard reset on the program and a guy that if anything is seemingly boring, but completely stable and appears to be a dynamic recruiter. I’m ready for some stability and I think it’s a very good approach to winning.
