First off, very glad we won! Great team win on the road versus a top 15 team.
But…I just don’t understand why we refuse to play sound football. I truly think it’s the difference in us being what we are and an elite team.
The biggest example of us playing like a bunch of idiots (and this is on the coaches) was when we got the ball back at 5:17 left in the 4th quarter (up 17-16). Any rational coach would try to work the clock here bc you know, you’re leading, have the ball and Iowa state has 1 time out remaining.
1st and 10 - run the ball with Tahj for no gain
2nd and 10 - we inexplicably snap the ball with 25 seconds left on the clock..WTF? Why on earth would you do this? Incompletion
3rd and 10 - another incompletion
We took a total of 34 seconds or so off the clock and punted. For the life of me, I can’t understand why we snapped the ball with 25 seconds left on the clock and threw the ball and then doubled down and threw another incompletion.
Luckily we won but I don’t get it.
