Leave it to Tech to make this the silliest most asinine situation ever.

Media reporting KK is out.

Players apparently believe it's true - and are all over social media.

Announcers during other games speculating and also assuming it's true.

Famous alum - notably Mahomes - publicly "confirming" it as well with social media.

How in the world is Tech just letting this fester?

My question: how hard is it for KH to simply call KK, say "it's over man, I know how hard you worked, how hard you tried, how much you love Tech, how much these players love you, but I've got boosters to worry about, ticket sales to worry about, and the only way that comes back is someone new. We'll buy you out over the next five years if that works for you, and won't even set it against another job's salary. You know we love you at Tech, but we have to make this work and this is the business we've chosen."

Then go call a PR flack to release a brief statement:

"Texas Tech AD KH released HC KK from the program today, citing a lack of improvement of the team's overall record of the last three seasons. A nationwide HC search has already begun. There will be a media briefing on Monday at 10am at the FTC."

Seriously.
