Noone was happy with the defensive performance this week. But this is the same board that has screamed all summer about our lack of talent in the secondary. And LB was our weakest position going into this season. Then we lose our two starting "sophomore" inside LBs. One to his stupidity and the other to injury. The fact that we're playing a guy like Stice (and glad we at least have him), much less starting him, tells you what hand Gibbs was dealt this week. You had the weakest group of LB in the country on the field in Tempe. And suddenly Gibbs doesn't know what he's doing? He knows more about defense than any 10 on this board combined. As painful as it was to watch, I have confidence he will develop the talent we have in the freshmen class. The mere fact that so many were playing this weekend should tell you all you need to know. Patience is definitely not a trait of this board but let this play out. To even suggest that he should go is nonsense.
I do agree on one thing. When your hurry up offense gains less than the exhaustion of a defense with little depth, you need to slow it down. Not saying we need to run the ball more because they were having no success there. Run the same plays but bleed the clock a little. That part is on Kliff.
