My daughter had a Belgian Malanois for 3 years. She had to rehome because she is gone so much and lives in an apartment, not to mention boyfriend is allergic. We have a friend who has always wanted a malanois. The dog is super sweet and friendly, not a mean bone in her body. So we give her to our friend in late March. He and his wife are raising their 3 grands, 17, 13 and 9. The 13 year old bonded immediately with Kona (the dog) and it was going ok. 3 months after getting Kona, they moved to a friends garage in antcipation of building a home next door. 3 weeks later they left her with a friend while they took an extended vacation. Kona tried to run away from the friend multiple times. They have been super-stressed while dealing with the house situation and have finally, after 6 months living with 5 people in a garage, moved into the home. Kona has been good overall, even learning to go on walks off lead and staying with them. Not destructive at all. In december, the 13 year old was given a kitten for her birthday. As you can imagine, Kona isn't too keen on that. Friend called me about 3 weeks ago that Kona attacked the cat (duh!) and did we want to take Kona. I said we would talk about it, but we have an older dog and it wouldn't be fair to her. We put our dog down last Friday (14 years old) I spoke with our friends Sunday and they said things were going well with Kona and she seemed to be doing well with the cat. Friend then calls on Monday morning that Kona snapped at the cat and the 13 yr old and that we need to come get her.

I am pissed. My response is, get rid of the freaking cat! But we really can't take her. We both work full time and my in-laws live with us and my mother in law is TERRIFIED of large dogs. I just don't know what to do. I think they need to live up to the commttment they made to the dog. Kitten could be rehomed so easily, but Kona has been through alot.

Y'all are good at advice, help please.
