Hearing a football update (more specifically a QB update) last week on Tech Talk really got my Inner Red Raider fired up. I didn't find a new schedule on RRS but I found a schedule online that is duplicated on a couple of sites. If that schedule holds like the one I'm reading we have an off week for deer hunting opener! Dove hunting opener in Haskell will be unaffected too due to the first game being played in Houston on the 4th. Good spacing of home and away games too.
One cool thing about the Covid year last year was that getting a hotel in Lubbock for the weekend for less than a house payment was possible. Restaurants were open and I met many of you all for the first time so that was cool too. I'll trade all that for a "fuller" Jones.
I haven't received any emails for season ticket renewals but I suspect that Tech will still be selling season tickets for this fall. Being really honest my Inner Red Raider feels a bit like the battered spouse that keeps going back. I'm hopeful that energy can return to the Jones this fall. There is no place I'd rather be on a fall afternoon than with all of you deplorable Red Raider fans in the Jones.
One recurring topic at Rudy's last week was that a "good" season (6-6 or better) could actually set us back. I'm choosing to let that be a possibility and enjoy every f'n TD we score this fall. Guns Up fellas. Let's have a great week.
