I have a fraternity brother who travels to China constantly. He just returned from Shanghai. He says that China is really slowing down because it is just a reflection of the global economy. "China manufactures most of the worlds goods and the slowdown is just reflecting the Global Economic slowdown" He talked about how Shanghai is now the largest city in the world and that right outside his hotel they had been building a new loop around the city and construction had just stopped. He said he saw construction everywhere but every construction site he saw looked like it had been abandoned overnight. "scary" he said.
He told me that China has plenty of money but things don't look good for now...or anytime soon.
He travles mostly to the Orient and says everything, every country is slowing down. We discussed Europe and both of us think we are at the beginning of real troubles in the world.
Bleak conversation
Both of us think that because Obama has been so weak that the turmoil in the Middle East and Russia becoming more aggressive is starting to have implications on the global economy. He thinks That Trump knows how to make deals and will get good people around him, but that we will have to take military steps to clean up this mess. The problem is our military has been gutted.
We are in trouble that is just beginning to resonate with some but is still beyond the comprehension of the masses in this country.
