Been reading that the trial of Omar Joto-Chavira for his killing of Lubbock County Sheriff's Swat Team Commander Josh Bartlett four years ago, is to begin. It is being moved from Hockley County to Lubbock. Former DA Matt Powell and his law firm associate Tray Payne (Lubbock's Mayor) were to handle it for $565,000. But they have decided to not do it.
And outside counsel/prosecutor is being sought to handle the case. Anyone know any more details about this high-profile case? Looks like this is going to be a big and ongoing situation for some time. The trail is to begin in September.
