This obviously changes on downs that aren’t obvious passes but it seems to me that our ends are always so close to the offensive lineman that they just engage with them immediately. We never have a guy lined up more than a few inches outside of the tackle with his ears pinned back either getting the edge or being able to cut in and force the Qb to move. They don’t do themselves any favors with creating more space.

Is this scheme as part of the 3-4? Do we try that and our ends are just not athletic so the tackle swallows them up? Am I completely mistaken? We just seem to run right into the offensive lineman and then if we get lucky occasionally are able to shed them and get a bit of pressure but it’s always too late.
