Another extremely frustrating loss for the Red Raiders. Three conference games, three tight losses. They’re officially in trouble and have an extremely tough next game.
I want to preface all this acknowledging the fact they were without two of their best players in Isaacs and Batcho while being down Allen as well, a really thin lineup.
The Tech offense was stagnant pretty much all night and Adams addressed it postgame. He said that the offense really hurt them, which it did. The Red Raiders shot horrifically from deep, going 2-18 from deep. Somewhat unlucky but Oklahoma contested almost all of them.
The blueprint is out on how to beat this version of Mark Adams’ no-middle. Drive and kick, skip the ball and pass it extremely efficiently. Oklahoma wasn’t even that good from deep, it was just killer.
Robert Jennings played extremely well, I thought. He held Tanner Groves in check throughout. His development would probably mean good things for the future, short and long term.
Obanor really struggled offensively but battled on the defensive end for all 45 minutes. Commendable effort but you probably want more.
Harmon had 23 but it didn’t feel like it to me. It felt like he disappeared a bit before going on that great run to force overtime. He is what he is, I think. He likely isn’t an extremely great point guard, but he will have his moments.
I think I’ll stop pushing the Elijah Fisher narrative, at least for a bit, he looked really good in his first stint then got completely lost on the defensive end and missing some shots. I’m not ready to give up on the potential though, you need help at that position, so you almost can’t.
Jaylon Tyson is an interesting case. I thought he looked good, but you want more. Pretty frustrating to see a player pass up easy opportunities like he has at times all season and what he did last night. All would’ve been erased if he hit that game-winner at the end of regulation.
Both final plays were not great, in my opinion. I’m no film expert but it didn’t seem like they had something great drawn up but Oklahoma defended the final possession of overtime really well.
Tech’s in trouble and will have quite the up-hill battle from here. You’re going to need to steal one in Ames or Austin otherwise it gets even uglier. Any margin for error you had is gone the rest of the way.
Owned and operated by Red Raiders, Sideline Provisions offers one of a kind items you can’t find anywhere else in the world. They are the original creator of the Guns Up logo and are the only place to get Dirk West original pieces.
