I hate doing something like this on a MB as I hate asking for any type of help/charity, but I am just about at rock bottom and I am getting to the point of desperation.

I'll sum up the story: I lost my job in May due to "attendance issues". My father was diagnosed with cancer last year, so I was doing a lot of driving home (which is 2 hours away) and back the same night/early morning, which led to times I was late that work. Unfortunately, I was unaware/uninformed about FMLA, so I never applied for it, and I got dismissed. As a further kick in the balls, I applied for unemployment benefits, but was denied due to the fact that being fired for attendance issues is a legit reason to deny benefits and disqualify me. Either way, I'm not mad as it's water under the bridge, I accept responsibility, and there is really nothing else I can do about it. You live and you learn.

Anyway, fast forward three months, and I seemingly still can't find a job. A lot of job hunting now-a-days is seemingly electronic and I've had a couple of interviews, but with the amount of electronic submissions I've made to actual interviewing, the ratio is not good. I've been living off savings and I had to withdraw from the 401(k), but now I'm nearly out of money, so my situation is getting dire. I'm actually at risk of being evicted as well, so I'm just trying to find any sort of avenue that can helps.

A little about myself - I'm currently in Austin and would prefer to stay here. I got my Bachelors in Marketing in 2008 and Masters in Sports Management in 2010, both from Tech. I spent the last 3.5 years working as a Management Analyst/Project Manager/Contract Manager for the State of Texas and before that, I was a Marketing Coordinator for a Texas-based company with locations across 10 states. I also interned with the TTU Athletic Department and the Big 12 Conference. As you can see, my experience ranges as you can tell.

If any of you in the area know of anything or have any leads that I could pursue, that would be greatly appreciated. Also, any sort of job hunting advice is appreciated. A lot has changed in the 6 years I've last looked for a job, so any advice is appreciation. I'm going to continue down my path, and do what I am currently doing. However, I've swallowed my pride and realized it's acceptable to ask for help.

Sorry for the long post and I appreciate any feedback. Also, I purchased a year sub to RRS when times were better, so in case any of you were wondering why I'd be spending money on a luxury rather than saving.

Guns up and wreck 'em, forever!
