If you were still in a Thanksgiving-induced food coma or traveling back home all day yesterday, here's the five things you need to know to get caught up on Texas Tech's coaching transition and search.

1. Kirby Hocutt made a formal recommendation to Texas Tech President Lawrence Schovanec on Saturday night that the university dismiss Kliff Kingsbury as head football coach and begin searching for his replacement.

2. Hocutt informed Kingsbury during a morning meeting. The two then met with and informed the team at Noon.

3. Texas Tech officially announced the news shortly after the team meeting concluded, and Hocutt met with the media Monday afternoon to discuss his decision. You can read @B. Soliz's takeaways from the press conference here.

4. Current, former and potentially future Texas Tech football players have all weighed in on Kingsbury's dismissal. As you might imagine, all are universal in their praise for Kingsbury as a football coach and man. You can read current and former player reactions here, and commit/recruit reactions here.

5. We have reported - and this has been subsequently been reported by others - that Hocutt is interested in Dana Holgorsen, Jim Leavitt, Brent Venables and Matt Wells (listed in alphabetical order). You can read a more comprehensive candidate breakdown here, including thoughts on Mike Leach.
