I was at the game start to end Saturday.
- First off, way to go TTU fans! That was as much fun as I've had at a Tech game in a very long time. Start to finish, the crowd was loud, the students were completely incredible, and the Raider Power chant when we tied the game literally brought me close to tears.
- I am admittedly way too emotionally invested into TTU athletics, and need to turn my phone over anytime I'm watching a TTU sporting event. Dammit, I just want to win!
- I am slowly making my way through my re-watch. Listen, OSU was just a little better than we were Saturday, and there's no shame in that IMO. Your young OL just could not get anything going on the ground and Kliff essentially had to engineer play after play to give our guys a chance.
- I really think that your defense played their tails off. Kept giving you a shot, kept holding in the redzone, and hell, who would have thought OSU goes out there and runs zone read with Rudolph for that last TD. Good play call by the pokes, as you sold out to keep their running game in check, he just leaked out the back side.
- Fields' pick 6 had that place going bonkers, I even sat on the west side and people were going nuts. Pretty cool to see. I've always been on the east side, and while there is a definite drop-off in energy to move to the west, I thought it was still pretty amped up. (Kept getting told to sit down, so I eventually moved to the concrete barrier behind the students. I get way too excited.)
- Offense sputtered again Saturday, which is a little disappointing considering you haven't played well for two games now. But it 100% starts up front. You're young, and those kids are going to get better. OSU just got after them. We also lost a pretty good spark when Coutee went down. (Still not sure how the hit on him in the 2nd quarter wasn't targeting or helmet to helmet, but what do I know?)
- Did anyone watching on TV get any semblance of an explanation on the PI that took 5 officials 10 minutes to decide on? To me it looked very clean, as if the other officials wanted to waive the penalty off.
You had a chance to win that game. That's all I could ask for. I'm horrible during the game, just because I, along with most of the fanbase, is just starving for a win to hang your hat on. Especially at home. But when I have a night to decompress, and watch the game again, I think you were completely playing with house money Saturday. Is it unlucky that Okie Lite got beaten at home the week before by TCU? Maybe. But you stood toe to toe with a team that I believed was a title contender to start the year.
On to KU.
