Wanted to take a look at some other rosters/stats for Tadlock era teams and see where this particular year would stack up.

- 2022 was no doubt a frustrating one for Texas Tech. A few wins here or there and you're playing in your home park and not a baseball graveyard for a regional tournament. Which really came back to haunt you simply with how this team was put together.... to hit bombs. (How does Jung's ball not go out for a game tying dinger?"

- The 2022 team was extremely inconsistent and just simply, outside of a few weekends, couldn't put together all three phases of the game and play complimentary baseball. Pitching was dominant at Ga southern... and the bats went out with a whisper. The bats were pretty incredible most of the season, and we kept seeing some real struggles on the bump.

- Let's put a massive *************** next to the 2020 team, as I thought it was a national title contender before the shortened season. Started 16-3.

Let's take a statistical look at Tadlock's rosters at TTU.

#1 - 2016 Texas Tech baseball - 47-20 Overall and 19-5 in the Big 12

DH - Tanner Gardner
1B - Eric Guitierrez
RF - Stephen Smith
CF - Cory Raley
LF - Tyler Nesloney
2B - Michael Davis
SS - Orlando Garcia
3B - Hunter Hargrove
C - Tyler Floyd

SP - Davis Martin - Steven Gingery - Erikson Lanning
RP - Hayden Howard - Ryan Shetter - Robert Duggar - Parker Mushinski - Ryan Mosely

- Damn I loved this team. They ran roughshod through the conference and despite a slow 8-5 start, made it to Omaha for the first CWS win in TTU history. They had starting pitching. They had an incredible depth of bullpen arms. Damnron and Harpenau ate up midweek innings. Raley - Zach Davis - Gardner - Neslony - Smith provided some speed on the bases. What a freaking fun year, and IMO the best Tadlock team, overall.

#2 - 2018 Texas Tech baseball - 45-20 Overall and 16-9 in the Big 12

3B - Josh Jung
SS - Michael Davis
LF - Grant Little
RF - Gabe Holt
DH - Zach Rheams
2B - Brian Klein
C - Braxton Fulford
1B - Cameron Warren
CF - Cody Farhat

SP - Davis Martin - Caleb Killian - Ryan Shetter
RP - Dylan Dusek - Jose Quezada - John McMillon - Connor Queen - Caleb Freeman

- If Steven Gingery doesn't get hurt, this is the best TTU team in history. When he went down, it really tested the depth of our pitching staff. The emergence of Dushetter at the end of the year really propelled this team throughout the tournament. Jung - Warren - Rheams - Little were thumpers. Farhat - Holt - Klein - Davis were fantastic players and provided some speed. This team could have won it all IMO. What could have been.

#3 - 2017 Texas Tech baseball - 45-17 Overall and 16-8 in the Big 12

1B - Hunter Hargrove
CF - Cody Farhat
LF - Grant Little
RF - Ryan Long
C - Michael Berglund
3B - Josh Jung
DH - Tanner Gardner
2B - Michael Davis
SS - Orlando Garcia

SP - Steven Gingery - Ryan Shetter - Erikson Lanning
RP - John Henry Gonzales - John McMillon - Parker Mushinski - Jose Quezada - Jacob Patterson - Caleb Kilian

- Dammit what a great team this was as well. They hit .305 as a team and only allowed opponents to hit .241. The dreaded two losses to the soft tossing lefty for SHSU just doomed this team from moving on. What a nightmare 24 hours for Tadlock and Co. It shouldn't take away from the ranking of this team, but unfortunately you almost felt like this was the first TTU team to do real damage in Omaha. Arguably the strongest overall pitching staff of the Tadlock era. Featured an overall ERA of 3.73

#4 - 2019 Texas Tech baseball - 46-20 Overall and 16-8 in the Big 12

LF - Dru Baker
CF - Dylan Neuse
SS - Josh Jung
1B - Cameron Warren
RF - Gabe Holt
2B - Brian Klein
C - Braxton Fulford
CF - Cody Masters
DH - Kurt Wilson

SP - Caleb Killian - Micah Dallas - Bryce Bonnin
RP - Connor Queen - Taylor Floyd - Dane Haveman - Clayton Beeter - John McMillon - Hunter Dobbins - Ryan Sublette

- Another year, another TTU team going to Omaha. Killian was unhittable. The bullpen featured flame throwers and Taylor Floyed is still striking out guys on a frisbee slider. Holt - Neuse - Baker - Masters provided speed. Klein is a professional hitter. Jung - Brax - Warren provided pop. Just a really, really good roster. The super regional against OSU was absolutely electric.

#5 - 2014 Texas Tech baseball - 45-21 Overall and 14-10 in the Big 12

LF - Tyler Neslony
1B - Eric Guitierrez
2B - Bryant Burleson
3B - Ryan Long
RF - Stephen Smith
DH - Adam Kirsch
C - Hunter Redman
SS - Tim Proudfoot
CF - Devon Conley

SP - Chris Sadberry - Cameron Smith - Ryan Mosely
RP - Ty Damron - Matt Withrow - Corey Taylor - Johnny Drozd - Dom Moreno - Dalton Brown

- The team that started it all. Went to Coral Gables to unseat Miami, two nailbiting games in Lubbock to advance to the CWS. Just a blast to be a part of that season. How quickly we went from that team to where we are now, expecting Super Regionals each and every year. Gute - Neslony - Smith were a great hitting OF. Kirsch is a forgotten TTU hero. Proudfoot and Burly turned double plays in their sleep. The Conley catch. Sadberry was a Friday night dub.. guaranteed. What a fun season.

Overall, I included all 4 CWS teams for clear reasons, but man when you look at that 2017 roster you can't help but have PTSD for the kid throwing 290 pitches and us just not being able to hit him. Damn you SHSU. The 2022 team will unfortunately fall into the forgettable years with some other Tadlock teams that just didn't get it done.

2022 - TTU falls to ND in the Georgia Southern regional.
2015 - TTU goes 31-24 and fails to reach the NCAA tournament.
2021 - Another good team that just got shellacked at home by Stanford.

For the first time in his career at TTU, coach tadlock has back to back seasons with under 40 wins. I would really like to see next year's roster reflect some of the other teams that have seen success. A blend of power with enough speed to win games in different ways. I felt like the 2022 roster just featured too many of the exact same baseball player. Coleman - Stillwell - White - Washburn - Kelly - Jace. Just not enough speed anywhere.

Let's just take a look at the 2020 roster for fun.

2B - Brian Klein
SS - Cal Conley
3B - Jace Jung
CF - Dylan Neuse
DH - Cole Stillwell
C - Nate Rombach
LF - Dru Baker
RF - Kurt Wilson
C - Braxton Fulford

SP - Clayton Beeter - Austin Becker - Mason Montgomery - Hunter Dobbins
RP - Bryce Bonnin - Micah Dallas - Jakob Brustoski - Andrew Devine - Connor Queen - John McMillon

Could've been a really fun year.

Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk.
