-We have finished three straight regular seasons with a win. Kliff is 3-2 in regular season enders. Tuberville was 1-2 (win over Houston in a game I absolutely can't remember) and Leach was 7-3 (Leach won his last 6 straight regular season enders. All three losses were to OU)
.
-Since the OU game, the Tech defense has allowed 144.75 yards rushing per game. That would rank them 37th nationally. Overall, they rank 52nd nationally, allowing 154.25 yards per game. We were 116th in rush defense in 2016, giving up 238.58 yards per game. It is clear to see that we have addressed a dire area of need. The defense, finally, has turned a corner
-We need to extend David Gibbs. Now. His contract should extend to match the end of Kliff's contract. And he needs a raise. I'm confident Kirby is working on this now.
-Read this point carefully, as there will be a handful of posters take it the wrong way considering the source. I wouldn't be against extending Kliff. HOWEVER, the extension, if one were to happen, should completely restructure and reduce his buyout, and should not include a raise. I think it's important to combat the negative recruiting that goes on pointing out that Kliff may not be here long. I think that is killing us, and I think most of it comes from Fort Worth. I also think it's important that in exchange for a show of support that Kliff's contract not hold us financially hostage if we determine that we need to make a change, particularly at the end of the 2018 season.
-I think Duffey will be our starting QB against Ole Miss next fall. His reps in bowl practice and throughout the spring will develop him enough to overtake Carter. I just think Duffey, while he may be behind now, has a much higher ceiling that Carter. That said, I will not dig in and take a side. I will trust that Kliff will start his best available QB, as he has always done in the past.
-Kliff's reaction to his ice/Gatorade bath was cringe-worthy.
-I am so excited to see what the 2018 defense can do. Every player is now fully immersed in Gibbs' system. There is plenty of tribal knowledge to be shared, and that is a really good thing.
