Family is up and getting ready for the drive home, so I’m killing time (que Clint Black).
1. If we ever play in a bowl game again, and 40% of the stadium is missing, and that happens to be behind the Tech bench, I’m either paying the premium or not going. Sat on the 50, in the middle of Arkansas fans, and that decision, more than any other, shaped my memories of this game, and how I reacted during the game. Never again. Ever. (Yes, that’s my bad.) Woof.
2. Arkansas scored 21 points in 9 plays and averaged 30 yards per play. Woof.
3. Macho Stevenson needs to see the greatest improvement of any player, ever, or should never suit up for Tech. Randy “Macho Man” Savage (RIP) would have done better. Woof.
4. If I never see Sterling Porcher play OL for Tech again, and I know he is in the portal, I’m ok with that. Woof.
5. Caleb Rogers, for all his antics, hype up, “hey look at me” rah rah stuff was literally the 1st dude to walk off the field right at the final whistle. Didn’t stick around for the Matador Song. Is that a big deal in the grand scheme of things, nope. Was it a bad look and plays into a narrative that he is basically a cheerleader, yes. Some will take offense to this, and I get it. But man, for all the head tapping, and other antics its a shallow look when he’s the first dude in the locker room after that game—-his last game, as a Red Raider.
6. Ben Roberts needs to do a 180 play wise, if he wants to play LB. He was lost for most of the night. Curry should push him for the starting spot.
7. Posted last night, and will reiterate again. This game will not be an indicator how the 2025 year will go, nor is it a reflection of how the 2024 year went, but it did mean something. This team, staff, admin, and fans wanted this game, and it was a failure on all levels.
8. I was in Ames, Iowa for the 2016 game. This one was worse from a fan watching, sitting in the stands, standpoint. It absolutely sucked.
