They shoot a LOT from the outside. Not any better at hitting them than Tech is, but they shoot it a lot more.
They are not as big as they look.
They play at a very deliberate pace.
They are not a particularly fearsome rebounding team. On defense they will pack it in and want you to shoot over the top of them.
Dean Wade is tough. Takes good shots, good passer, good defender. Tall, rangy guy with skills. Tough matchup for most teams because he's very versatile on offense.
Barry Brown takes a lot of shots. Average shot from the arc, good free throw shooter. Good passer but can be turned over.
Kamau Stokes is a good passer. Gets to the line, average FT shooter. Shoots it well and often from long range.
Xavier Sneed - good shot, good FT shooter. Pretty good long range shot, shoot it a lot from long range. Good rebounder, good passer.
Makol Mawien - does not shoot often but takes pretty good shots. Does not draw a lot of contact and is not a great free throw shooter. Plays better in space, which he does not find a lot of.
Mawien and Sneed will foul you.
They lose focus on defense and don't double at opportune times, if you make them defend the full 30 seconds. They are susceptible to getting mauled by the motion offense - they will chase on defense. Average at switching on defense. If you stand around with the ball, they clog up the inside and force you to shoot over the top.
It will be interesting to see how Tech responds after their huge win at Kanasas. This is a home game they should win, Tech is better than Kansas State - but the Big 12 is pretty frosty this season, and the difference between teams may be pretty small. I'll be watching everyone and assume the play at Kansas is the new bar.
What's the deal with the elder ZS? Zach Smith's foot has been an issue - is it still? Not much press on this that I've seen, but he played 6 minutes against Kansas. To me that makes Tech's win even more impressive. Hopefully his foot is good to go and he got 6 minutes only because there was no opportunity to get him more minutes with the way Tech was playing. Raiders will need him, and are a better team with him.
Sorry this is so brief, I got a lot going on.
