Quick question for 4x4 owners

I am test driving an F 250 4x4. I have not owned a 4x4 before. I decided to engage the 4x4 in the parking lot on dry pavement. When I turn sharply, the steering wheel jerks and it feels like things are binding up. I have read this is normal on dry pavement, but want to be sure.

Anybody know?
