Florida State gave all of its football assistants new deals in December and, as part of that, Chris Thomsen received a beefy raise. He's scheduled to earn $625,000 from March 2024 - March 2025 and $650,000 from March 2025 - March 2026.
I haven't been able to find the buyout information for Thomsen's most recent extension but his April 2021 extension included language that would have required him to pay 100 percent of the remaining contract value if he left before Dec. 31, 2021 season and 25 percent if he left after Jan. 1, 2022. The buyout would have been waived if he left for a head coaching job, a coordinator job with play-calling responsibilities or any NFL job. I assume that buyout language is fairly boiler-plate for Florida State but I don't know that for sure.
