As great as our offense was this year I am a little concerned with our inability to execute the routine short passes on 1st and 2nd down. It seemed the entire season we faced A LOT of third and longs where Pat scrambled around and either ran for the first down or made a highlight worthy pass to a WR downfield. It became the most reliable play in our offense.
That being said, I miss the quick short passes that Leach employed almost like a running play. The ball left the QB's hand before the defense had a chance to bring pressure and typically got us to manageable 3rd down situations. I also miss the distribution of balls to all of the WR's requiring the defense to cover the entire field. Is this a schematic change on kliffs part or is Pat just not yet running the air raid as efficiently as past qb's? His natural ability is so over the top it works out much of the time but it seems we are often pulling a rabbit out of our ass to sustain drives. Boom or bust.
