So probably every time I post about football, you folks here who really know football - which seems to be everyone - you folks know I'm football dumb.

Last night Tech won by a couple of scores, yet I felt then and still feel that a conference team may well have beaten Tech last night. La Tech just isn't really up to snuff as far as programs go. They just aren't. But it didn't seem to me like the Raiders are really up to snuff compared to other Big 12 schools.

Is that blasphemy? Raiders look like they can move the ball and score, and I feel like I could get 100 yards rushing against them if my sisters and sainted grandma were my O line.

There seems to be a tradition now spanning the last two head coaches of poor defense. How can this be fixed? Why can't a team have a great offense and a great defense? Or even a good defense. I don't get it. It's not the same players on both sides of he ball, I don't expect the Tech QB to also be a nifty linebacker. If the Raiders had an average defense, they'd be winning games by 4 TDs and be ranked in the top 4 by the end of the season.

So tell me how Tech fixes this problem? Is it players or coaching? Could a different coach take these same players and get better results?

I'm not calling for anyone's head, I think a coach should get five years to implement his vision of a program. Is Tech on a five year plan? Is there defensive improvement on the horizon? I ask a lot of questions.
