LUBBOCK, Texas – Back at home after winning the Hall of Fame Classic Championship earlier in the week in Kansas City, Texas Tech will host Northern Colorado at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday at the United Supermarkets Arena.

The Red Raiders (5-0) have won 41 straight non-conference home games coming into the matchup against the Bears (3-0) who are averaging 101.3 points per game this season. Texas Tech is coming off wins over Southern Cal and Nebraska at the Hall of Fame Classic and is undefeated through five games for the second straight season and for the 12th time in program history. UNC went 26-12 last season and won the CollegeInsider.com Tournament (CIT) championship. The team opened its season by hitting 23 3-pointers in a win over Colorado College and had 13 against Pepperdine and 12 in a 90-64 win at Incarnate Word on Wednesday.

"This is possibly the best team that will come here in our non-conference schedule," Texas Tech coach Chris Beardsaid. "This is a game that we scheduled on purpose knowing that it is a great opponent. I think it will be an RPI game later. It's a team that won 26 games last season and a postseason tournament and have picked up right where they left off last year. We are going to have to play well. Our guys understand this. We are on edge right now because we know that this is a team that can beat us if we are not at our best."

TEXAS TECH PLAYER NOTES:Jarrett Culver was named the Hall of Fame Classic's Most Valuable Player after matching a career-high with 26 points in the win over Nebraska on Tuesday. A Lubbock native, Culver leads the Red Raiders with 18.6 points per game and is also adding 5.2 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game to start his sophomore season. Culver has scored in double-figures in all five games this season, including 21 against Southeastern Louisiana in the last home game for the Red Raiders. Matt Mooney is coming off performances in Kansas City where he had a season-high 17 points in the win over Southern Cal and then 15 against Nebraska. Mooney was named to the HOF Classic All-Tournament Team and is leading the Red Raiders with 4.4 assists per game this season. A graduate transfer who played the last two seasons at South Dakota, Mooney is averaging 11.8 points per game along with sophomore guard Davide Moretti. Tariq Owens leads the Red Raiders with 2.6 blocked shots per game and is coming off a season-high eight-rebound performance against the Cornhuskers and 18 points against the Trojans. A graduate transfer from St. John's, Owens is averaging 8.0 points and 4.6 rebounds per game. Moretti is adding 3.0 assists to his 11.8 points per game with a career-high 17 points coming twice already this season in wins over Mississippi Valley State and Southern Cal. A sophomore from Italy, Moretti is tied with Culver for the team lead with eight 3-pointers this season. The Texas Tech bench is bolstered by senior Brandone Francis who is coming off scoring seven points against Nebraska along with sophomore Deshawn Corprew and freshman Kyler Edwards. Corprew is the leading scorer and rebounder off the bench with 6.0 points and 4.2 rebounds per game to begin his first year at Texas Tech, while Edwards is averaging 4.8 points per game including a season-high 10 points in the opener against Incarnate Word.
