Pretend you are Kirby 8 months from now. Let's say Tech finishes with a highly competitive 8-5 record and a mid-tier bowl win (no awful losses, and a couple really nice conference wins). Additionally, the defense has taken another step forward and become quite a respectable unit. In addition, Duffy looks to be a "dude" at QB....Made a lot of young guy mistakes, but had a lot of WOW moments as well. His future is very bright.
Late December rolls around and you have 3 options. Keeping in mind we all want to see substantial progress, and wins are the ultimate measuring stick, which do you choose:
1) Fire KK and bring in a coach with solid HC experience
2) Let KK coach his final year, and have a 3rd consecutive year of a coach who has a white hot seat
3) Give KK a 2-4 year extension to free him up to continue building what he has going
I have been in camp #1 for a couple years now, but I don't think the answer is simple. What do you say?
