Today I join the mix of heartbroken RRS posters that lost their best friend. My Shar pei Doc is crossing the bridge this morning. He’s been having trouble eating and holding anything down for weeks and we finally got the lymphoma diagnosis this week. The cancer appears to have started in the stomach, explaining the eating issues, and has spread as well. He’s in pain, but can still be managed enough to enjoy a short walk and car ride, so this morning the vet is coming to the house before it gets excruciating.

I really don’t know how people do this except just to do it, it’s soul crushing. However, I do find some comfort knowing he’s still going out with dignity, without extreme pain, not in fear and in his own home surrounded by Mom and Dad and his younger sister Cinnamon. Wish it was longer, but so grateful to have had 6.5 years with him after adopting him at around ~3 years old.

So pour one out today for my bud Doc and say a little prayer for him and strength and peace for myself and @Nighthawk713 if you could.

And thank you to all the friends on here that already reached out and several that have even come to say their goodbyes. It’s been well into the double digit RRS posters that I only met off here to reach out and times like this that really emphasize the type of community this place is.
