A few thoughts...

*Tech hadn't seen any adversity yet early on this season, but they certainly got it from the Colonels. today. They came out scorching hot from the three point line and were 5 of 6 in the first 10 minutes. Tech's defense was a little bit loose on the EKU shooters, but Beard lit a fire under his group that stuck the rest of the game. Tech made two big double digit runs to take the lead in both halves, including a huge 22-5 run in the second half that was the exclamation the Red Raiders needed. They held EKU to 36.8 percent from the field, a great job considering how things started.

*How about Shadell Millinghaus? You wanna talk about a guy that's just a junkyard dog on the floor, it's him. He had 20 points today, and the biggest moment was a reverse layup, steal, and another layup that gave Tech the energy they needed to close out the Colonels. He's so tough on both ends and my favorite player on this Tech team. Just love how he gets after it.

*Justin Gray and Zach Smith had themselves a little block party this afternoon. Both players had three blocks, and they were both dominant in the paint. The Red Raiders outscored EKU 36-14 and really limited Nick Mayo, the EKU center who had scored 20 in the first two games, had only 13. Sure, he missed a few shots, but I thought Tech did a great job clogging inside.

*HALLELUJAH. They finally made some free throws 25-30 from the line, much better than what it's been so far.

*Niem Stevenson was out today because they wanted to take an abscess out of his throat. He'll be with the team in Cancun and will play.
