Anyone have experience with their kids and plagiocephaly? My wife noticed early on that our son's head seemed to be a little flat in spots on the back. She mentioned it to his pediatrician a few times, and she wasn't ever concerned. Now she agrees about the shape, but he 7 months so they can't try reshaping it in the office, and it will take a helmet.

He had the eval done last week, and we found out today that it's going to cost us a good chunk of change out of pocket because at this point in the year, we haven't met our deductible. On top of that, they say that Cigna only approves about 50% of these as medically necessary, meaning we could be on the hook for the entire cost.

The eval and amounts are from Cranial Tech, the licensed suppliers of the Doc Band. I told my wife that if we are going to be paying most or all of this ourselves, we ought to consider alternatives, such as the Star Band, their chief competitor. Anyone on here have actual experience in this area, as a parent or care provider? It's expensive either way, but Star seems to generally be quite a bit cheaper. Chief concern is that it works, but more $ doesn't always mean better results.

TIA
