Yeah...we missed some field goals and I believe Nic wilted under the pressure and messed the bed a bit, but penalties are what killed us in this game.
I believe WVU only had two scoring drives that were not aided by penalties. We started the second half with a chance to go up 3 scores and we get two holding calls that pretty much kill a chance in that series.
A lame personal foul on a Coutee TD gives WVU field position and then we help with two more personal fouls. 30 yards in penalties and about 10 in field position makes the WVU a gimmie for their first TD.
Can we talk about pass interference? Did we have 5 or 6 PI calls? Yeah...Grier is a good QB and their receivers are talented but my goodness we made it easy. So many times we are in position and never turn and make a play on the ball. So frustrating as it appears we are close to making GREAT plays and instead we get disaster. Turn 3 of those PI's into incomplete passes and we are very likely looking at a W. Seems many of those were on 3rd downs with one being on a 4th down.
