OT: Teacher shortage

Let's try to keep this as non-political as possible, although I expect it to be moved to EEF by page 2.

Our school district has multiple positions still to fill and can't find anybody. They've even moved a couple of bus drivers into the classroom, and have waived the requirement to be certified or to even have a degree to teach, which is unpopular with established teachers as you could imagine.

I used to be one to say it's ok that teachers' pay is low because the supply was high and they are a dime a dozen. That's clearly not the case right now. It's hard to blame the district here because it's not like they're sitting on cash to hand out higher salaries, but at this rate testing scores are going to suffer, and that will affect funding down the line.

Something has to give at some point. I say legalize MJ and gambling in Texas, tax the ish out of it, and use that to fund public education.
