This used to happen once in a blue moon, but now I'm getting spam calls to my cell number on a weekly basis.
We have AT&T, again never really a problem until the past few months.
"We can save you money on your home owner's insurance, do you have a few minutes"
"We are collecting donations for the local Highway Patrol Officer's Fund"
"Press one to learn more about savings available on your mortgage"
etc/etc, obvious spam.
Lately, a number almost identical to my number - off maybe one digit - keeps calling. I'm in sales and cover recruiting, I literally answer every phone call.
I answer and it is an Asian person and they proceed to start talking in Chinese/Japanese - not English. I understand nothing, tried to say 'hello, this is Matt Clare' a few times and eventually hang up.
The number calls again 3-4 times that day. I get another call, it's the same number but now this guy (English speaking American) is starting to really get onto me...
"Who is this, why do you keep calling me?"
So I'm like, timeout slow down, your number has been calling me and speaking in Chinese, leaving voicemails in Chinese...basically, I promise it's not me buddy.
"Oh man, I'm so sorry. I never speak like this, but I just called them 'mother f**kers' and told them to never call my number again. Ok, well I hope they stop calling both of us!"
I hang up, thinking 'that was really weird'...
A few weeks go by and now I'm getting random calls again, this time from different states???
Is there a service I can pay for, something to get my number off a list? Am I poor? What is happening?
