Is this standard? If so, what's the purpose with Covid being basically non existent and with minimal harm now? My wife and I both see different Dr's at the same practice nd the whole practice requires an OTC covid test before coming in for anything with covid type symptoms.

I understood at the tail end of the pandemic. Tests were readily available, covid was still fairly prevalant, etc.

2 weekends ago our 4 year old woke up sick on Sunday. Ended up having the flu and was sick for 8 days. 16 year old got sick last Thursday but it was a 3 day deal and he was fine. Wife and I both woke up sick early Saturday morning but I'm basically fine now and she's worse. We got some OTC flu/covid combo tests Sunday and both tested negative for everything. Since she seems to be getting worse I got her an appointment and they asked if she had taken a covid test, I explained that she took one Sunday for covid and flu and was negative. They lady said she would need to take another one before her appointment this afternoon. WTF is that about? So my wife, while very ill, is supposed to go to the store and buy an OTC test to administer to herself a second time in 3 days before she goes to the Dr.? Are our doctors retarded? Am I missing something?
