Alright RRS brain trust, question for the board. I've never in my life considered making a noise complaint against a neighbor, but I'm starting to.
Here's the situation. My next door neighbors are mildly irritating in that they just aren't very considerate. We usually get some of their trash in our yard, they have people over that will park with their cars blocking our driveway, and just generally not very friendly. But not really something that has much impact on my life.
However, there's one other issue. They have a pool in their backyard which they have people over to enjoy it which is fine. But when they do, they BLAIR music. As in we hear it inside our house. And it goes on for hours. Today we are going on over 3 hours and I don't expect it'll stop until dark. According to my Apple Watch its 65 dB in my backyard and 40 dB inside our house. If it was every once in a while, that's one thing. But this happens most Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays from about Easter to Halloween (they started a bit early this year apparently). Bedrooms are on that side of the house, so forget about taking a nap if they are doing their thing (not to mention they have to shout at each other to be heard over their music).
Today I went out during the delay and walked it, you can hear the music 820 feet away.
Not wanting to be a jerk or really get involved with anything, but it is just so excessive. Is it ever fine to make a noise complaint, or at that point have you officially become a Get Off My Yard old guy?
If it makes any difference, its tejano club music so I've been listening to the beat of a Pitt Bull song for 3 hours now.
