In the market for a new car and figured I’d ask some car guys for some suggestions and if there’s anything new out there to help get a good deal.
Have a 2015 Hyundai Genesis 3.8, great car but has 184,000 miles. I’m driving a ton for work now and it’s starting to feel a little bit iffy. But, still no huge hurry to find something new necessarily. I absolutely hate everything dealing with cars, dealerships, etc so haven’t even test driven anything yet.
I’d like to go with a mid-size SUV this time. I spend a lot of time driving from Minneapolis to Nebraska and . winters can get tough on the roads so needs to have AWD. It will mostly be just me in the car, but have 2 kids and haul them/their friends around some. Hybrid would be great and gas mileage obviously a plus but not a huge concern. My budget is healthy & flexible but seeing some of the prices out there I’m already pissed off and might just drive mine until it strands me on the side of the road somewhere.
Looking at the following (more or less in order) a lot, but haven’t decided on a direction yet. Kind of stuck between wanting something really nice because I’m always in it and something cheap(er) because I’m going to run the wheels off of it.
Genesis GV80 - loved the look of these since they came out
Toyota Highlander - Platinum pkg looks like a good option $$ wise compared to others
Lincoln Aviator - like the look, don’t love the price tag, my wife would probably try to steal it from me. The only one that qualifies for the Sect 179 tax break for weight.
Telluride/Palisade - love the price, my wife has the Palisade now and really like it
Infiniti QX60 - price is ok, reviews seem kind of mixed
Thoughts on those or other options out there?
Also, any new apps or tricks to get a good deal? With my search history IG is feeding me up tons of “invoice pricing” apps but they all seem scammy.
