I worked in that community for a number of years, so the recent events captured my attention. In the released scanner audio, one can hear the slain officer answering his commanding officer on the radio about where the first shot came from and then about the open blinds. One next hears a shot ring out, static on the radio, a hellacious return volley of fire, and then some young officer responding to the downed officer. Absolutey nauseating, as one is literally hearing an officer's last words.
They apparently found the suspect's body in the front room of the house, and although the Texas Rangers' report won't be released until after their investigation is complete, it's possible that the suspect was downed in the return fire and didn't get the escape of something self-inflicted.
Not much to say, nor known here, but I am proud of the way that the Little Elm community has responded with an outpouring of love, prayer, and resources. Knowing the voices on that scanner, the role of public service has taken on even more meaning for me. May God bless Walker's family and the TOLE.
