OT: Lake Ray Hubbard

I'm looking at buying a new house and thought it might be fun to live by a lake. I found a few houses next to Lake Ray Hubbard but I know nothing about the lake (I'm new-ish to DFW). Is this a good lake? Would I die if I swam in it? Is there any reason that buying a house next to the lake would be a bad idea?

Any insight would help.
