Tonight, I decided to treat myself to a luxurious dinner. For a broke recent college grad, that would mean a whatasized meal.
As I pulled forward to the second window to pay for my bbq chicken strip sandwich combo, the cashier informed me that the car ahead had payed for my meal, totaling about 8 bucks. In fact, the past three vehicles paid for the people behind them, starting a "pay-it-forward" movement.
I looked in the car behind me, and it was a truck with at least four people inside. I asked the casher how much their bill was. $38 dollars, nearly five times what I expected to pay that evening. Keep in mind I hadn't paid for a $38 meal since my senior prom (minor exaggeration).
The high school aged cashier, in his infinite wisdom, laughed and admitted he wouldn't pay for them if he was in my shoes. I agreed, and drove with my free dinner, not paying for the caravan behind me.
Am I an arse for this?
